Laura Claster Bisesto is Head of Policy & Privacy at Nextdoor, where she leads Nextdoor’s privacy counseling program and is responsible for developing Nextdoor’s global product policy, public policy, and government relations programs. Laura has extensive experience advising technology companies at different stages of growth, including Lyft, Checkr and Verizon Media, which owns internet brands such as Yahoo, Aol, HuffPost, TechCrunch, and Tumblr, prior to divestiture.

Prior to going into tech, Laura spent five years as a Deputy District Attorney in San Diego and San Francisco counties where she served as lead prosecutor in over two dozen jury trials with charges that ranged from misdemeanors to serious and violent felonies.

Laura received her J.D. from U.C. Hastings. In law school, she externed for California Supreme Court Chief Justice Ronald M. George, and after law school, she clerked for the California Supreme Court’s criminal central staff. Laura is a proud Bruin and received her undergraduate degree from UCLA.

Laura lives in Orinda with her husband and son. She serves on the UC Hastings Alumni Association Board of Governors and volunteers on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), an organization that supports foster youth through advocacy and mentorship.
